  • Okonomiyaki

    Okonomiyaki

Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savory pancake, made with flour, eggs, shredded cabbage, meat and toppings as you like. This variability is reflected in the dish's name: "okonomi" literally means "to one's liking". You can eat it everywhere in Japan, but especially Okonomiyaki made Hiroshima style and Osaka style are the most famous.

  • Tea Ceremony

    Tea Ceremony

The Japanese tea ceremony is a centuries-old tradition closely tied to Zen Buddhist principles, and a popular way to experience Japanese culture. There are several variations on this ritual. At its base, powdered green tea (matcha) is prepared and served in accordance with strict rules. Oftentimes, wagashi (Japanese sweets) is served alongside the bitter green tea.

We loved cooking with Keiko, and the food was delicious. She gave our toddler pencils and ppaper to draw on while she taught us. It was also fun to get picked up in her car and see a bit of the neighbourhood. Hope we can visit again for another class someday!

Had a very lovely, fun and memorable cooking class with Keiko. The okonimiyaki, omu soba and mochi were delicious, the best food I’ve had so far in Japan, and was also catered to me as a vegetarian! It was easy to follow and the methods and ingredients were explained so we can replicate it when we go back home. The class was very beginner friendly, so people of all abilities can enjoy. Plus plenty of photos and videos were taken, which was very much appreciated! Thank you Keiko!

We had a fabulous time with Keiko, who was extremely welcoming and friendly! She expertly guided us through making each dish, resulting in some very delicious food, with the confidence to cook it again when we're home! Keiko was also kind enough to record parts of the experience and sent us all the videos afterwards. This was a highlight of our entire trip to Japan, thanks again for such a fun and educational experience!

I had a fantastic time at Keiko’s cooking class in Osaka. Although we initially worried about the distance from the train station to the location, we were very thankful when Keiko picked us up and dropped us off. We were surprised to find out the class was private, but despite our initial thoughts that a group setting might be more fun, my boyfriend and I were pleased with the personalized experience. Keiko’s kitchen was lovely, and the meal we prepared was both easy and delicious. She also provided excellent drinks throughout the class. The matcha tea ceremony was a memorable addition, and Keiko’s English was impressively fluent—better than what we’ve experienced elsewhere in Japan. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that we highly recommend.

Our okonomiyaki cooking experience with Keiko-san was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan! We learned how to prep all the ingredients, cook the okonomiyaki and yakisoba, and she showed us how to properly prepare and serve matcha at the end. All throughout the experience, Keiko-san was very engaging and patiently explained how to make the dishes. She was so friendly and sweet, and we definitely will be back for another cooking class when we go back to Osaka. Highly recommend!

Keiko was a lovely host and great teacher for our cooking class. When planning our trip to Japan, we wanted to experience how to cook authentic, local cuisine, and Keiko provided just that! She was super hospitable, and we appreciated how she picked us up from the subway station and drove us back. The food was delicious, as was her homemade drink. We had so much fun with lots of laughter. Now that we are back from our trip, it's one of the highlights that we've been telling our friends and family about. Book your class with Keiko, you won't be disappointed!! Thank you Keiko, and lots of love from Canada <333

Keiko was a wonderful host. We were running a bit behind due to a few transit issues and she was very understanding and patient in this regard. She did a fantastic job in not only explaining how to cook the food, but also what each of the individual ingredients involved was. The food was all very delicious and I hope we will at least be able to replicate at home. It was thoughtful that she provided us with the recipes from the class as well. Keiko also spent a lot of time talking with us and asking us about our trip so far as well as questions about our general interests, which was extremely nice of her. Keiko is lovely both as a host and a person, and I am so glad we took this class with her, I would highly recommend.

We had such a great time cooking Okonomiyaki, Mochi and Yaki Soba with Keiko, would definitely recommend this cooking class! Keiko made sure to adjust all dishes to fit our vegan diet. She is such a lovely person, extremely considerate and warm-hearted. We felt directly at home, listening to her anecdotes about Japanese culture, learning to prepare Matcha as well as Keiko asking a lot of questions about our culture. We had to use Google Translate sometimes but that didn‘t affect the experience at all. Arigato Gozaimasu, Keiko!
