  • Okonomiyaki

    Okonomiyaki

Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savory pancake, made with flour, eggs, shredded cabbage, meat and toppings as you like. This variability is reflected in the dish's name: "okonomi" literally means "to one's liking". You can eat it everywhere in Japan, but especially Okonomiyaki made Hiroshima style and Osaka style are the most famous.

  • Tea Ceremony

    Tea Ceremony

The Japanese tea ceremony is a centuries-old tradition closely tied to Zen Buddhist principles, and a popular way to experience Japanese culture. There are several variations on this ritual. At its base, powdered green tea (matcha) is prepared and served in accordance with strict rules. Oftentimes, wagashi (Japanese sweets) is served alongside the bitter green tea.

Keiko was a lovely host and great teacher for our cooking class. When planning our trip to Japan, we wanted to experience how to cook authentic, local cuisine, and Keiko provided just that! She was super hospitable, and we appreciated how she picked us up from the subway station and drove us back. The food was delicious, as was her homemade drink. We had so much fun with lots of laughter. Now that we are back from our trip, it's one of the highlights that we've been telling our friends and family about. Book your class with Keiko, you won't be disappointed!! Thank you Keiko, and lots of love from Canada <333

Keiko was a wonderful host. We were running a bit behind due to a few transit issues and she was very understanding and patient in this regard. She did a fantastic job in not only explaining how to cook the food, but also what each of the individual ingredients involved was. The food was all very delicious and I hope we will at least be able to replicate at home. It was thoughtful that she provided us with the recipes from the class as well. Keiko also spent a lot of time talking with us and asking us about our trip so far as well as questions about our general interests, which was extremely nice of her. Keiko is lovely both as a host and a person, and I am so glad we took this class with her, I would highly recommend.

Thank you so much, Keiko. For your patience with me and for your guidance, that had me enjoy my own cooked Okonomiyaki and Omusoba. It was so delicious. And the combination of the sweet wagashi and the bitter matcha was a revelation. On top of that you’re such a wonderful person to talk to. I had a great time.

Thank you so much Keiko. We loved visiting your beautiful home and learning how to cook Okonomiyaki (vegan) with you. Making the mochi from scratch was great and it tasted amazing. We loved learning how this dish can be with vegan ingredients and we hope to source them to make again back home. Thank you very much for hosting us.

We had such a great time cooking Okonomiyaki, Mochi and Yaki Soba with Keiko, would definitely recommend this cooking class! Keiko made sure to adjust all dishes to fit our vegan diet. She is such a lovely person, extremely considerate and warm-hearted. We felt directly at home, listening to her anecdotes about Japanese culture, learning to prepare Matcha as well as Keiko asking a lot of questions about our culture. We had to use Google Translate sometimes but that didn‘t affect the experience at all. Arigato Gozaimasu, Keiko!
