・Hand-Rolled Sushi (Temaki Sushi)
Temaki sushi is a fun and casual way to enjoy sushi. We will prepare sushi rice and colorful ingredients, then learn how to make our own hand-rolled sushi cones using sheets of nori seaweed. You can choose your favorite fillings and create your own original sushi.
・Japanese Egg Drop Soup (Kakitama-jiru)
Kakitama-jiru is a simple and comforting Japanese soup made with dashi broth and softly cooked beaten eggs. We will learn how to prepare this traditional home-style soup and enjoy it together with our hand-rolled sushi.
In this cooking class, we will make two popular Japanese home-style dishes together: hand-rolled sushi and Japanese egg drop soup.
First, we will visit a nearby supermarket together to choose the ingredients for the sushi. You can select your favorite fillings, and I will do my best to accommodate food allergies and dietary preferences. Please let me know about any allergies or restrictions in advance.
After shopping, we will turn freshly cooked white rice into sushi rice by seasoning it with sushi vinegar. Then, you will learn how to place the ingredients on a sheet of nori seaweed and roll it into your own hand-rolled sushi.
We will also make kakitama-jiru, a comforting Japanese soup made with dashi broth and softly cooked beaten eggs. After cooking, we will enjoy our meal together and have a relaxed conversation about Japanese food and culture.
Kaori
Hello! My name is Kaori, and I’m excited to welcome guests from around the world to my home in Tokyo.
I decided to become an airKitchen host because I love meeting people from different countries and sharing Japanese culture through food. I hope we can enjoy cooking together, have meaningful conversations, and create wonderful memories.
My home is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, about 10 minutes from Ginza and Tsukiji. Although it is close to some of Tokyo’s most popular areas, you can also experience a more relaxed and local side of the city here. I look forward to meeting you!
