    Onigiri

    Onigiri is a Japanese comfort food made from steamed rice formed into the typical triangular, ball, or cylinder shapes and usually wrapped with nori(dried seaweed). Stuffed with a a variety of fillings and flavors, these rice balls make an ideal quick snack and are a fun alternative to sandwitches for lunch.

  • Miso Soup

    Miso Soup

    Miso soup is a traditional Japanese soup. It's base is "dashi" (Japanese fish stock) and Miso paste. Common added ingredients are Tofu, Green onion and deep‐fried tofu but differs by personal preference. The type of miso is different from region. In western and Easter Japan white miso is mostly used.

Cooking Class Information

・Dashi tamagoyaki: Mix two eggs together with dashi before cooking in a specialized frying pan and rolling with a makisu (bamboo mat). Participants will be given a makisu as a souvenir.
・Agedashi tofu: Cut the tofu and squeeze out excess water. Then, dust with potato starch and fry in oil.
・Grilled onigiri: Mix soy sauce into cooked rice before shaping into onigiri. Then grill both sides in a frying pan – this dish can be enjoyed cold as well!
・Yakisoba: A wide range of ingredients can be used when making yakisoba – meat, seafood, vegetables, etc. Let's eat plenty of vegetables!
・Miso soup: Typical ingredients include seasonal vegetables and deep-fried tofu. During autumn, mushrooms are a delicious addition.

With the proper preparations, each dish can be made in less than three minutes!
