Make Gyoza & Tantanmen and Enjoy Japanese Calligraphy!
In this cultural experience, you will learn how to make two popular Japanese dishes and try the traditional art of Japanese calligraphy — all in a cozy local home.
1. Cooking: Handmade Gyoza & Spicy Tantanmen
First, we will make gyoza (Japanese dumplings) from scratch — preparing the filling, folding the dumplings, and pan-frying them to crispy perfection.
Next, we’ll cook tantanmen, a rich and flavorful noodle soup with a creamy sesame broth and a bit of spice. This Japanese version is inspired by Chinese dan dan noodles, but has its own unique taste.
2. Calligraphy Experience (Shodo)
After enjoying your meal, we will relax and try shodo, traditional Japanese calligraphy. You’ll use brush and ink to write kanji characters — maybe your name or a meaningful word — and take your work home as a cultural souvenir.
Let’s discover Japanese culture together — through food and art!
English and Spanish support available. Beginners welcome!
