Ramen is a noodle soup dish and perhaps one of the most popular Japanese dishes. There are many flavours of ramen, such as Shoyu (soy sauce) ramen, Miso ramen, Tonkotsu (pork bone) ramen and so on. Common toppings are Chashu (braised pork), Negi (green onion) and Nori (dried seaweed).

  • Gyoza

Gyoza is a dumpling using wrapping thing dough to hold the inner ingredients. Most commonly, minced pork, cabbage, Garlic and Leek. The origin of Gyoza is from China but it has evolved uniquely in Japan and now quite different from the Chinese one.

Hello, Konnichiwa! My name is Yuka, welcome to my page!

I hold cooking workshops in my home kitchen about Japanese Cuisine specialized in fermentation. Fermentation might sound complicated but it actually is so simple and easy, furthermore it accentuate food’s taste and brings so much health benefits to our bodies.
My passion is to share this natural superpower of fermentation and I am confidant you’ll fall in love once you experience what it can do for you.
It might be the first time for you to actually use many different kinds of Miso on your own, and taste condiments using Koji.

Koji is culture from rice or soybeans, commonly mistaken as type of yeast but it’s different from it. In my workshop, I will show you what actually that Koji is, how simple and easy it is to use in your own kitchen and you’ll be able to use in every type of international cuisine in the world, that is my promise to all student.

Reviews of Cooking Class

Yuka is an amazing host and we had a lot of fun with her. Her lesson starts with a warm welcome (she picks you up from the closest train station) and then we folded traditional origami cranes. Then we learnt a lot about fermentation, were able to try different kinds of miso (and sake paste), and then we made vegan gyoza and ramen. Yuka has a great eye for detail and the ramen toppings looked like a rainbow and were beautiful. The gyoza were really the best we had in Japan (and we‘re not even vegan - we just like plant-based food). Her course easily caters to both vegans and flexitarians. Yuka is very generous, joyful and knows a lot about Japanese cuisine! Thank you so much, Yuka! We will remember this cooking class as one of our highlights during our trip to Tokyo! Lina & Tim

We had the pleasure of attending Yukas class who was so professional and welcoming of us into her gorgeous home. She was so knowledgeable and easy to talk to and the food was so incredible. She sent us away with full stomachs and full hearts. Couldn’t thank her enough and look forward to one day maybe having the opportunity to cook for her in our kitchens if she travels to Australia.
