Activity Details:
For this experience, we've got everything set up, from the soup and ramen sauce to the fragrant oil and chashu. First things first, we'll craft semi-soft boiled eggs. Then, we'll dive into prepping ramen toppings, followed by slicing and combining the ingredients for our gyoza, which we'll then deftly fold. After that, we'll infuse the chashu with its delightful flavors and sizzle up the gyoza to perfection.
The grand finale includes crafting the soup, boiling the noodles, and the oh-so-cool noodle draining technique that never fails to impress. Finally, we'll artfully assemble the toppings onto the ramen. Trust me, learning the ins and outs of ramen creation will undoubtedly deepen your love for this dish.

I am quite the hobby cook and Yoshi gave me lots of tips an insights how to make a really great creamy vegan miso ramen at hoke. I am looking forward to try out his recipe. I really want to highlight that Yoshi did a great job coming up with a fully vegan ramen that did not lack any depth and flavour. Also the toppings were great! On thing you could critic is that we sadly did not cook the broth together. I understand that the meat based broth has to cook for several hours so it would not be feasible to do this for a cooking class. But I think that it would actually be possible to fully cook the vegan broth together as it does not have to cook for hours like the meat based one. Nonetheless as I already said, we had a great time and the food we cooked was delicious. The ramen was the best during my entire trip!

It was just the two of us doing the course so lots of time for chatting and learning all about Japanese cooking. The egg peeling competition was fun (I won!), and seeing fresh noodles being made. The ramen was the best I have ever tasted and we have since been emailed the full recipe so we can try it at home. The gyoza were great fun to make too and more straightforward than I realised, can't wait to try to make them ourselves. Overall, if you want a fun, friendly, educational experience where you can learn from a fantastic chef (who speaks excellent English), look no further. We are SO glad we chose this course!!
