  • Ramen

    Ramen

Ramen is a noodle soup dish and perhaps one of the most popular Japanese dishes. There are many flavours of ramen, such as Shoyu (soy sauce) ramen, Miso ramen, Tonkotsu (pork bone) ramen and so on. Common toppings are Chashu (braised pork), Negi (green onion) and Nori (dried seaweed).

  • Gyoza

    Gyoza

Gyoza is a dumpling using wrapping thing dough to hold the inner ingredients. Most commonly, minced pork, cabbage, Garlic and Leek. The origin of Gyoza is from China but it has evolved uniquely in Japan and now quite different from the Chinese one.

  • Tea Ceremony

    Tea Ceremony

The Japanese tea ceremony is a centuries-old tradition closely tied to Zen Buddhist principles, and a popular way to experience Japanese culture. There are several variations on this ritual. At its base, powdered green tea (matcha) is prepared and served in accordance with strict rules. Oftentimes, wagashi (Japanese sweets) is served alongside the bitter green tea.

Cooking class with Keiko was awesome! She is super hospitable and a very talented cook - she’s been teaching Japanese clients for 18 years and international clients for the last 2. She also speaks English well. The meeting point is easy to get to, directly north on the Midosuji line. She picked us up and was so welcoming and hospitable from the start. We made two types of ramen, gyoza, and strawberry daifuku. Both the soy sauce and the miso ramen were leagues better than a lot we had in Dotonburi - so simple but so rich in flavor. The miso paste we used was also homemade by Keiko, over the course of 10 months. We are excited to take all of these recipes home! For dinner, Keiko also shared a few other homemade concoctions to pair with everything we made, including a sweet lime juice, yuzu lemon pepper. We finished the dinner with a matcha tea ceremony. Book with confidence! We loved the entire experience.

My wife and I had a great time with Keiko in this cooking class! It was convenient to meet her at the train station, and from there she drove us a short distance to her cute, tidy home where she taught the class. Keiko was well-prepared and taught us how to make two kinds of ramen, gyoza, and a dessert, all of which was delicious and fun to make! Afterward, she treated us to a nice matcha tea ceremony, and we had a very pleasant conversation with her about our time in Japan so far and recommendations for things to do and foods to try while in Osaka. This was a highlight of our trip and we definitely recommend you book a class with Keiko!

We had a wonderful experience with Keiko, such a great host! The food was delicious and I feel confident that I will be able to cook it at home, although I need to practice my gyoza dough rolling skills. The tea ceremony at the end was lovely and I liked this matcha better than others I had tried before. She also was really interested in where we had gone in Japan so far and gave us ideas of places to visit in Osaka. It was so much fun meeting Keiko and the food was absolutely delicious, I highly recommend taking a class with her!

Cooking workshop with Keiko is definitely a highlight of our stay in Osaka and we are very happy we did it. Keiko is super lovely and cheerful. She met us at the subway station and drove us to her home where we cooked two types of ramen, gyoza, Japanese sweets and had a matcha tea ceremony. Within 3 hours we managed to prepare so varied and tasty dishes. Keiko also gave us so many details about the preparation of the ingredients we were using, shared recipes so that we can repeat them at home, explained many details about Japanese cuisine, sauces, prep meals, spices, marination and so much more. My partner is a cook, and I am an amateur at cooking, but we both enjoyed the cooking workshop with Keiko, as well as our talks which connected our cultures through food. Thank you so much, Keiko, for this amazing experience.

Keiko-san is a very kind and accomodating host. The dishes we cooked were very tasty and should be well reproducible back home. Since I travelled alone it even ended up a private lesson, which I really didn't expect. I had a wonderful time at Keiko-san's! She was thoughtful, experienced and kind. There's lots to get through so she has preprepared most ingredients already, that way you can get straight into making the dishes. You'll receive a recipe during the session which covers the whole process so even if you do not get to do a particular part, you'll be able to recreate it at home. My favourite bit was sitting down together afterwards and eating all our yummy food we made (make sure you go with an empty stomach). It was really lovely as it allowed for us to talk more about Japanese food/culture. The tea ceremony was also a really lovely experience that I would recommend to anyone! Thank you again Keiko-san you were a wonderful host and I felt like I learnt a lot :)

We've done several cooking classes in other places, but this was our favorite cooking class! Keiko was so great teaching us how to prepare food, and we are excited to cook them at home as well! :) Also, Keiko was so kind to take videos and photos of us throughout the process. I truly appreciate it as there are not many photos of me, so it's a great souvenir along with the recipes Keiko shared. Thank you so much Keiko! We highly recommend anyone to take her class!
