Shoyu Ramen, Tonkotsu Ramen & Gyoza - all from scratch! This is a full on, intensive cooking class for any ramen lovers out there!
Ramen or ラーメン (as you might have already seen all over Tokyo!) is essentially noodles and soup - a staple dish in Japan.
Picture a steaming bowl filled to the brim with slurp-worthy goodness. It's a symphony of flavours and textures that dance in your mouth.
The springy noodles, bathed in a savoury broth that has been simmered to perfection, hug tender slices of succulent meat.
And let's not forget the toppings! From marinated eggs that ooze golden yolk to crunchy veggies and fragrant spices, every bite is an adventure.
Ramen is the best comfort food, a warm embrace on a chilly day, and a culinary journey that will leave you craving more.
Gyoza (Dumplings)
These little dumplings are like flavour-packed treasure chests, boasting a tantalising blend of juicy meat or veggies wrapped in a thin, delicate dough. They're perfectly pan-fried to achieve that irresistible golden crispiness, while the inside remains wonderfully juicy and bursting with umami goodness.
Dip them in a tangy soy-based sauce, take a satisfying bite, and let the explosion of flavours transport you to the bustling streets of Japan.
Gyoza is the ultimate crowd-pleaser, whether you're enjoying them as a snack, appetiser, or even a meal.
Welcome to my intensive, hands-on Ramen Cooking Classes, where we dive into the authentic world of ramen-making together! It's like a culinary work experience right within a real ramen restaurant - an adventure you won't forget!
You'll learn from a ramen chef (that's me!) and another talented culinary expert. Together, we'll explore the art of crafting mouth-watering ramen from scratch in the lovely ambiance of a fancy restaurant in Meguro, Tokyo.
The best part? You'll receive a comprehensive recipe booklet, unveiling the secrets behind restaurant-quality ramen. Plus, you get to take your delicious creations home! Imagine treating yourself and loved ones to your own homemade bowl of ramen!
Oh, and don't worry about language barriers – I'm bilingual in both Japanese and English, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable learning experience for everyone!
There's always enough for you to take home food as well - we provide a takeaway bag for all the ingredients so you can make another bowl of ramen at home!
This class usually takes about 3.5 - 4 hours, so get ready for a lot of learning about ramen and doing a lot of cooking!
Konichiwa! My name is Andrew Baba, but you can call me ramen sensei! I've been a ramen 'Otaku' (having a ramen obsession) since a young child and through years of trials and tribulation, I am now teaching people how to make ramen. I am half Japanese as you might tell from my family name and am fluent in both English and Japanese so be great to have some language exchange and hopefully give you insight into the Japanese ways alongside teaching you about ramen.
I am excited to share my knowledge of ramen with you and help you become a ramen master too! Don't worry if you're a beginner - I'll guide you through every step and we'll make sure to have fun along the way. Plus, if you're interested, I can share some interesting facts and stories about Japan and its culture. So, ramen calm and let's make your first bowl of ramen!

★★★★★How good!! Our time with Andrew was fantastic. My partner and I hit it of like we were old friends as soon as we met. Very well spoken and made everyone included for the day. The food was amazing and can’t believe I was part of cooking it with everyone.

★★★★★Guys, this cooking class is an absolute MUST for your Tokyo trip. I can't describe enough how much fun I had & how incredibly delicious our ramen was - we even made two different broths and we also could take some Ramen and Gyoza home! Andrew just gives the instructions so you really learn how to do everything from A-Z yourself which I think is great! I'm looking forward to impressing my family and friends with my new skills. Anyone who doesn't take this course is missing out! A little tip: ask Andrew if you can make a chicken paiton broth, it was sooooo good. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart Andrew for my absolute Tokyo highlight!

★★★★★We had a fabulous day cooking at the restaurant with Andrew. The small group of 6 worked really well. We did all the preparing and cooking for the ramen and gyoza from start to finish so it was 4 hrs of full on cooking but Andrew and his assistant were so patient, calm and organised throughout it all. Loved making the noodles. He was full of information about the dishes and good tips on ingredients substitutes we could get in the UK if needed. We were all given very detailed instructions and recipes for recreating the dishes at home, which we will definitely do. I would highly recommend Andrews class, you can read a recipe and follow instructions when making something but actually cooking it and discussing all the different steps and learning about the dish and ingredients was fabulous.

★★★★★This activity is a must do when in Japan! A very hands on class as you will make everything from scratch and best of all you get to sit down and enjoy a delicious bowl of ramen and gyoza at the end. We were a family with 3 teenagers and Andrew was excellent at coordinating us all and ensuring we were kept busy! We can’t wait to cook ramen and gyoza when we return home.

★★★★★My family of four took Andrew’s Ramen and Gyoza class earlier this week (Aug 1). Andrew’s passion for Ramen and the techniques involved shine through. In his class, you learn how to make, not 1, but two types of Ramen. He will split the class in 1/2 and each 1/2 is responsible for making one type of Ramen. He does go into the layering and composition of the Ramen and how restaurants do it and how we are doing it differently (mainly due to time constraint). You also will learn how to make the Ramen noodles from scratch. In addition, you will learn how to make gyozas. The 3.5-4hr course goes by super fast and as others have noted, it is truly an immersive and a very much hands-on experience. At the end, you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor and walk away with a tremendous appreciation for what is entailed in making these “oishi” bowls of ramen and gyozas. Definitely one of the highlights from our Japan trip. Thank you Andrew for sharing your passion and craft. Gotta say, we’ve never wielded an iron brand before, so branding the eggs was very different as well. Also learned a new technique to get a very clean peel of an egg. Super excited to try our learnings at home. There are other ramen classes being offered, but if you truly want a hands-on experience from an instructor who speaks English, but has the Japanese understanding of the art of making Ramen, look no further.

★★★★★Andrew was a wonderful ramen sensei. We thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class. We made the ramen noodles, broth and gyoza from scratch. It was authentic and delicious. Well worth the time. There was even enough to take home. Highly recommended.

★★★★★Bring two very important things to this class: a big appetite (come hungry) and a willingness to get elbows deep in this. Immersive "hands-on" class. While the lesson is 4 hours in length, the time will fly by with you being busily engaged in the various complex facets of making authentic ramen. Andrew's infectious enthusiasm and energy makes the class all the more enjoyable. He'll start with a brief history of ramen and describe the complex construction before you all dive hands first into the practical task of making it. The end of the day will see you eating your very own delicious bowl of ramen and gyoza that YOU made!! I highly recommend this class with Andrew. You will not be disappointed, you'll gain a greater appreciation for this delicious soup and you will not leave hungry!! Itadakimasu!

★★★★★Our cooking class with Andrew was the highlight of our trip. Andrew was a great host and was not lying when he said we would be busy the entire time. From preparing ingredients to actually cooking them, Andrew was patient and thorough with his instruction. We would self identify as beginners and still managed to have an amazing end product while learning about all of the things related to making ramen. Our gyozas were delicious and we are excited to try cooking this for friends someday! My partner doesn't like soy sauce, which presents a big problem, but Andrew was able to whip an alternative soup base that was just as delicious. We weren’t expecting that at all, but it speaks to Andrew’s dedication to providing us with the best experience possible. It also speaks to his knowledge of ramen! We highly recommend this class to anyone thinking about it!

★★★★★Andrew is an incredibly well spoken, patient teacher! As someone who has attempted making homemade ramen, Andrew took time to ask which areas (broth, aromatics, egg, char siu, and noodles) I wanted more explanations for. I came away with a much better understanding of what makes each component shine. I'd definitely recommend Andrew to anyone new or familiar with making ramen, as I greatly believe he has knowledge to offer for all experience levels.
