Meet Your Instructor: Junko
Hello! My name is Junko. I'm a native Japanese local, a graduate of Sophia University, and a former high school teacher. In my free time, I love swimming, canoeing, reading, and traveling.
My passion for traditional Japanese cuisine runs deep, having prepared these dishes throughout most of my life. I am dedicated to creating high-quality, additive-free meals, always with a focus on healthy cooking practices.
Though born and raised in Tokyo, I've also had the enriching opportunity to live abroad in places like Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States for a total of five years. These experiences have allowed me to pick up English, which I truly enjoy speaking whenever I can!
I am a very sociable person and genuinely enjoy connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. Sharing my love for Japanese cuisine and culture is a true passion, and I eagerly look forward to embarking on this culinary journey with you!

★★★★★My cooking experience with Junko was amazing. My sister and i had so much fun talking to her about the food and asking so many questions. We were able to really connect and have a lot of meaningful conversations and laugh a lot. ★★★★★The host was really kind and discussed Japanese culture and history with us, broadening our knowledge further than what you might get from formal museums. The food we cooked felt like a normal home cooked Japanese meal and used ingredients you can easily find in supermarkets or your cupboard. We learnt to make tonkotsu from scratch, mushroom soya soup, tomago, and tried some sake. It was a really really fun afternoon that I would recommend and it’s a lovely walk through a quiet park from the station.

We cooked simple yet delicious recipes and then shared the feast together. Junko is a gracious hostess.

Thank you, Julian, for choosing my class. I learned a lot about Germany from you and gained a lot of knowledge. I'm grateful to be able to spend such a fun time talking with people like you who I don't usually get to meet through cooking experiences like this. Both tonkatsu and curry rice are easy to make, so please try making them. Please come again if you have the opportunity. I can make any Japanese food.
