Tempura is one of the traditional Japanese dishes. It is very popular in my home. 5 kinds of seasonal vegetables, 2 large shrimps, and fried. Vegetables include sweet potatoes, pumpkins, lotus roots, eggplants, perilla leaf, spring chrysanthemums, and mushrooms. I will give you delicious tempura powder as a gift!

・ Kakiage
Kakiage is one type of tempura that is fried in combination with several kinds of fine ingredients. Avocado and small shrimp fried are popular in my home. Let ’s fry two kakiage by yourself!

・ Miso soup with tofu
We have miso soup every morning. Miso soup has long been loved in Japan. Please experience the taste of "umami".

・Let's eat with freshly cooked rice!

・ Hojicha is a representative tea in Japan. It's a very relaxing non-caffeine tea.

    Tempura (天ぷら) is a classical Portuguese dish brought to and popularized by Japan, consisting of seafood or vegetables that have been battered and deep fried. Tempura is a typical home-style cooking in Japan. It is often referred to as a representative dish to Japan. Although there are various theories, it is said that Tokugawa Ieyasu, the general of the Edo period, liked tempura so much that he allegedly died from eating too much.

    Rice is a staple food in Japan. In all most every family, there is a rice cooker. There is variety of Japanese rice brands such as Koshihikari and Hitomebore.

  • Miso Soup

    Miso Soup

    Miso soup is a traditional Japanese soup. It's base is "dashi" (Japanese fish stock) and Miso paste. Common added ingredients are Tofu, Green onion and deep‐fried tofu but differs by personal preference. The type of miso is different from region. In western and Easter Japan white miso is mostly used.

Cooking Class Information

In this classroom, you can make tempura together! Make tofu miso soup together! First of all, take the soup stock to make miso soup. Please feel "umami"!
Next, two shrimps are processed per person to make tempura. I cut the vegetables. Get ready to make kakiage. We will fried in turn with everyone! Finally, fry the kakiage. Eat freshly fried with miso soup and rice! You will be impressed by the crispy tempura you made!

Hello! I am mamiko.
I’m a housewife, living with my husband, daughter and a dog.

I have been teaching various dishes, mainly Japanese food, for about 10 years in a cooking school in Tokyo. While spending time with students who enjoyed participating in the class, I also wanted people from all over the world to experience the joy of cooking and the beauty of Japanese cuisine.

My house is located at a 10-minute walk from Kugayama Station on Keiko Inokashira Line, which is 15 minutes by express train from Shibuya Station. It is also a 3-minute train ride from Kichijoji Station.
There is a famous Inokashira Park at Kichijoji Station, which is an unique town.
In our home, there is a Japanese-style room where you can experience Japanese culture.
I enjoy providing hospitality. I’ve started thinking this activity would be another opportunity for myself. Let's have fun together for a wonderful experience!
